Image ReNu was a longtime client of our agency who had a website that was several years old at the time that I got involved with the project. Though we’d been running ad campaigns for them for years their message had changed without their content and image keeping up so it was time for an overhaul. Even a company name change was discussed, but in the end they settled on a new logo, branding, content, and image.

We went through several revisions for their new logo and branding, but it all followed a certain visual theme that they were trying to achieve. A high profile colleague of theirs in another market was their inspiration both for colors and styles and for web design in particular. Our instructions were that they wanted “that look” for themselves as well, no mincing words. It didn’t take us long to whip up a WordPress theme that was similar enough to their liking and was quickly approved. Where we could get creative though (rather than emulating someone else’s work) was with the site’s content.
Shifting our work budget from development to content, we beefed things up with a fitting stock video loop for the homepage hero, and combining some professionally shot photos from their business. They picked out some stock photos to use as page headings as well. The bulk of the visual heavy lifting was done with Gutenberg blocks set to match their theme.
As we were working on the redesign their existing website went down unexpectedly and they needed the replacement quicker than we had planned. We installed the plugin Coming Soon, setup a quick placeholder message with their new branding, and then had their domain name point to the site so that at least it’d get rid of their old host’s error messages and visitors would know that they were still in the right place.
Originally we were also going to be setting up eCommerce to sell skin care products salon-style, but the client opted out of it as we neared completion of the build deciding to instead only post information about popular products and still rely on in-person transactions. The main goal was just to get rid of the “Coming Soon” message and go live with the full content ASAP. Cover blocks with headings were used as placeholders for where product photos would be so we could get the site across the finish line.
The plan was to go back and add product photos into those blocks once their vendors could send them over, but once the site was live they decided it was fine as-is considering the primary focus was on clinical services rather than products. The potential is still there to enhance the content later on if they choose including some WooCommerce integration that’s just waiting to be turned on.
